Unfortunately, our NHS capacity has dramatically decreased since the COVID-19 pandemic. At the beginning of the pandemic, routine NHS dental services were paused in the interest of patient and dental staff safety.
From June 2020, Practices began to restore their NHS services, while introducing enhanced infection prevention and control measures.
We have many patients that we are still unable to offer an NHS dental appointment to, after over 2 years of waiting.
This is mainly due to the difficulty recruiting NHS Dentists as well as the growth in population in Didcot creating increased demand.
In an attempt to increase access to dental appointments, we are offering all patients the opportunity to become a member of our Practice Plan. This now includes children as we understand they are often most in need of regular dental appointments.
We do not seek to discard our NHS patients by offering a Practice Plan. We are simply trying to provide an alternative choice to our patients, in a relatively affordale manner, so that they have an option of maintaining their oral health in a professional environment.
